Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that Europe is ready to fight against the USA on trade issues. Clearly, we do not want a trade war. But if we must fight, we are also prepared, he told lawmakers in Madrid. Sánchez noted that as the fourth largest economy in the Eurozone, the Spanish government is discussing a "moderate, wise, and unified" response plan with European neighbors to address the threat posed by the Trump administration's high tariffs on European commodities imported to the USA. Earlier this month, tariffs imposed by the USA on imports of European Steel and Aluminum took effect, and Trump has vowed to impose similar tariffs on other industries, including Autos. Sánchez also mentioned that, at the same time, Spain is developing a national plan to support industries adversely affected by trade tariffs.
