Chalmers said on Tuesday to Australian Broadcasting Corporation: 'We are not the only country disadvantaged by various tariffs from Washington, but as long-term partners and allies, we deserve better treatment.' 'Such tariffs are counterproductive; they are self-destructive; they lead to slower growth and rising inflation, not only in the USA but across the Global.' Chalmers will announce his fourth national budget on March 25, and elections must take place in mid-May. This Australian minister noted that the focus of the voting is to make the national economy 'more resilient amid a very uncertain Global economy.'
