Citi's analysts believe that the risk of U.S. President Donald Trump threatening to impose tariffs on Japan in his upcoming talks with Prime Minister Shintaro Ishihara is quite low; however, the weak yen could be an issue. "So far, President Trump has not taken a particularly tough stance on Japan," wrote Citi analysts Osamu Takashima, Daniel Tobon, and Brian Levine in their report. However, the possibility that he might suddenly take a tougher stance on Japan at this week's summit cannot be completely ruled out.
