Data shows that in November last year, German industrial production rebounded, bringing a glimmer of hope to the struggling sector amid large-scale layoffs and the threat of tariffs from the soon-to-be-inaugurated Trump administration. Capital Economics economist Franziska Palmas stated in a report to clients that overall, German industry will continue to struggle through 2025, remaining below pre-Russia-Ukraine conflict levels and 15% lower than the peak in 2017. Palmas said, "Looking ahead, the weak manufacturing activity survey in December and low levels of industrial orders indicate that German industrial output will continue to be sluggish in the coming months."
