According to industry insiders, on Thursday morning local time, Jin Air, a South Korean low-cost airline, had to suspend a flight from Japan to South Korea due to a mechanical issue with the aircraft. The Boeing 737-800 passenger plane operating the flight (the same model as the aircraft that crashed with Jeju Air) was found to have a problem with its horizontal stabilizer during a pre-flight inspection at 9:30 AM. The airline determined that it needed to replace parts to resolve the issue and canceled the flight, transferring 87 passengers on board to the next flight scheduled to depart at 2 PM.
