In this class action lawsuit, plaintiffs accused the company of frequently recording their private conversations after they inadvertently activated Siri and disclosing these conversations to third parties such as advertisers. In the settlement agreement, tens of millions of Apple users can receive up to $20 in compensation for each device that supports Siri (such as the iPhone and Apple Watch). Apple stated on Wednesday: "Apple has never used Siri data to create marketing profiles, has never used it for advertising, and has never sold it to anyone for any purpose." "Apple does not retain recordings of Siri interactions unless the user explicitly chooses to help improve Siri, and even then, the recordings are only used for that purpose," the company said, adding that it will continue to develop technology to make Siri more private.
