The State Council Information Office held a press conference this morning to introduce the situation of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle construction over the past five years. In terms of total economic output, five years ago, the GDP of the dual city economic circle was less than 6.3 trillion yuan, and is expected to grow to 8.6 trillion yuan by 2024, achieving two thresholds of 10 trillion yuan over five years, with its share of the national total rising from 6.3% to over 6.5%, significantly enhancing its support for high-quality development in the western region and even nationwide. In terms of industrial structure, the two cities jointly built four trillion-yuan industrial clusters in electronics, equipment manufacturing, advanced materials, and specialty consumer goods, with auto production and electronic information output accounting for more than 1/10 of the national total. The productive service industry is flourishing, modern and efficient specialty agriculture is being cultivated more rapidly, and the popularity and reputation of the Bashu cultural corridor continue to improve.
