Fitch's research institution BMI indicated that as purchasing conditions improve, auto sales in Asia may accelerate this year. BMI predicts that with easing inflationary pressures and central banks cutting interest rates to stimulate economic activity, disposable income for consumers will rise. By 2025, sales in the region may grow by 2.7%, compared to an estimated growth rate of 0.1% last year. Sales of electric vehicles may continue to rise, but the pace will slow down, with Emerging Markets and frontier markets continuing to experience stronger growth. However, if oil prices rise significantly, increasing geopolitical risks may undermine hopes for a recovery in auto sales in Asia.
