Shell has reduced its liquefied natural gas production forecast for the fourth quarter of 2024 and warned that its trading business performance will be lower than in the third quarter. The world's largest liquefied natural gas trader has adjusted its production guidance for the fourth quarter of 2024 to 6.8-7.2 million tons, down from 7.5 million tons in the third quarter. The company also stated that due to the timing of emission certificate payments in Germany and the USA, operating cash flow for this quarter is expected to be impacted by $1.3 billion, and additionally, working capital will need to allocate $1 billion to pay aviation fuel taxes in Germany.
