However, after extensive negotiations, two Republican opponents changed their votes to support him, one of whom allegedly received a call from Trump himself. Johnson ultimately won re-election with the minimum requirement of 218 votes. The Republicans currently hold a slim majority of 219-215 in the House. After the vote, Johnson vowed to extend the 2017 tax cut policy set to expire this year under Trump and reduce regulation. He stated, "We will significantly cut the size and scope of government."
