Analyst Francesco Pesole from ING Groep stated in a report that once liquidity fully recovers after the Christmas trading period, the USD may decline slightly, but any downward trend will not be sustained. "We expect that once a short-term correction occurs, the USD will see strong bid in any downturn." He mentioned that the policy mix of elected President Trump should lead to further strengthening of the USD. Trump's inauguration ceremony will take place on January 20 at local time. Pesole also stated that the USD will exhibit seasonal strength in January and February. The DXY USD Index fell 0.4% to 109.001, having reached a two-year high of 109.533 on Thursday.
