In 2024, Russia's natural gas exports to the EU increased to 54.45 billion cubic meters, making Russia surpass the USA and become the second-largest natural gas supplier to the EU. The EU imported 297.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2024, of which 54.45 billion cubic meters were purchased from Russia. This is an increase of 21% compared to the 45.5 billion cubic meters bought in 2023, ultimately raising Russia's share in the EU market from 14.2% to 18.3% over the course of a year.
