On January 1, local time, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs released a report on the situation in Sudan, stating that approximately 30.4 million people will need humanitarian assistance in Sudan in 2025, accounting for about 64% of the country's total population. The report indicates that due to the continued escalation of armed conflict in Sudan and restricted humanitarian access, the population in Sudan requiring humanitarian assistance in 2025 has increased from 24.8 million in 2024 to 30.4 million, with about 16 million being minors. The UN Sudan Humanitarian Response Plan for 2025 requires $4.2 billion in funding, aiming to provide assistance and protection to around 21 million of the most vulnerable groups locally.
