ECB President Lagarde stated that the 2% inflation target is within reach. In a video posted on X on Wednesday, she expressed: "We have made significant progress in reducing inflation in 2024 and hope to achieve our target as expected and planned by 2025. Of course, we will continue to work hard to ensure inflation stabilizes at the 2% medium-term target." CPI growth in the eurozone has slowed down over the past year and fell below the ECB's target in September, but it has rebounded in recent months. Lagarde warned that CPI will fluctuate around the current level in the near term. Nevertheless, the slowdown in inflation has allowed policymakers to implement four rate cuts of 25 basis points each, and economists expect four more cuts by June this year.
