Australian authorities in Victoria attempted on Sunday to control and assess the damage from a wildfire that swept through Grampians National Park this week, destroying homes and farmland. Authorities reported that the wildfire has spread to 0.074 million hectares (182,858 acres), destroying three homes and several sheds in the eastern part of the national park. A watch and act level remains in effect for several towns near the Grampians region. According to local ABC news, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is expected to visit parts of the affected area on Sunday to assess the damage. Authorities warned that after several calm seasons, there could be a high risk of forest fires this summer. The 'Black Summer' bushfires of 2019-2020 destroyed an area the size of Turkey, resulting in 33 deaths.
