On December 27, the Sentosa Development Corporation, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the National Environment Agency, and the National Parks Board issued a joint statement stating that Shell has notified Singapore authorities about a suspected leak at a petroleum refining facility located in the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park on Pulau Bukom. Shell has suspended the facility for investigation. Shell's initial estimate indicates that several tons of finished oil products have leaked along with cooling water.
