On December 26 local time, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation thwarted a series of assassination attempts planned by the Ukrainian intelligence agency against senior Russian military officers. The Federal Security Service arrested four suspects. The Russian side stated that the Ukrainian intelligence agency planned to remotely detonate explosives that were pre-positioned under the vehicle of a Russian military officer.
