Data from the Shanghai headquarters of the central bank shows that at the end of October, the total balance of domestic and foreign currency loans in the CNI Yangtze Index region was 70.12 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%, with growth remaining stable compared to the end of last month. The balance of RMB loans was 69.23 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%, with growth remaining stable compared to the end of last month; the balance of foreign currency loans was 124.6 billion USD, a year-on-year decrease of 13.3%, with growth 1.4 percentage points lower compared to the end of last month. In October, RMB loans in the CNI Yangtze Index region increased by 98.3 billion yuan, which is 8.4 billion yuan more than the same period last year. By sector, household loans increased by 42.7 billion yuan, which is 97.7 billion yuan more than the same period last year, among which, short-term loans decreased by 3.9 billion yuan, and medium- to long-term loans increased by 46.6 billion yuan; loans to enterprises (institutions) increased by 19.6 billion yuan, which is 83.2 billion yuan less than the same period last year, among which, short-term loans decreased by 102.5 billion yuan, medium- to long-term loans increased by 28.4 billion yuan, and bill financing increased by 103.7 billion yuan; loans from non-banking financial institutions increased by 14.8 billion yuan, which is 14.2 billion yuan less than the same period last year. Foreign currency loans decreased by 2.8 billion USD, which is 1.9 billion USD more than the same period last year.
