The news of a possible merger between Nissan and Honda this week has shocked the Global Autos Industry. This Trade has not been officially confirmed yet, but former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn did not remain silent about it, offering harsh criticism of this potential merger. Ghosn stated, "This is a desperate move, not a pragmatic Trade. To be honest, it is hard to find synergies between the two companies. There is hardly any complementarity between them; they operate in the same market, have almost identical products, and their brands are very similar." He further pointed out that this proposed merger does not indicate a true integration of the two Japanese brands, but rather stems from the desire of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to promote this Trade for the benefit of the Japanese economy, which seemingly does not please Honda.
