Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from Tianfeng Securities released an investment research report today (December 17) stating that NVIDIA is developing and testing DrMOS technology for the GB300 and B300, finding serious overheating issues with the AOS 5x5 DrMOS chips. This issue could affect the mass production schedule of the systems and change market expectations regarding AOS orders. It is reported that NVIDIA is prioritizing tests of the AOS 5x5 DrMOS chips, on one hand to enhance its bargaining power with MPS to reduce costs, and on the other hand AOS has more extensive design and production experience with the 5x5 DrMOS. Supply chain information suggests that the overheating issue of the AOS 5x5 DrMOS chips is caused not only by the chips themselves but also by design shortcomings in areas such as system chip management.
