Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike stated in a speech to the local council that starting from the next fiscal year, personnel in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will be able to adopt a flexible working system of 'three days off per week.' Additionally, staff with children in the third grade of elementary school or below can apply for a partial leave system, allowing them to arrive late or leave early for up to two hours a day. Policymakers in Japan believe that with more non-working hours and increased flexibility at work, raising children should no longer be so 'daunting.'
