FedEx announced that yesterday it signed a memorandum of understanding for facilitating cross-border customs clearance arrangements (CEFA) with Hong Kong Customs, becoming the first company to join this memorandum of understanding. It is expected to benefit from a stable and efficient customs clearance process. CEFA aims to enhance the customs clearance efficiency for cross-border shipments from the mainland to Hong Kong. According to the memorandum of understanding, Hong Kong Customs will provide customs clearance services at one of FedEx's service locations in the urban area for imported goods transported from the mainland to Hong Kong. Arrangements will be made for imported goods currently transported to Hong Kong via FedEx's Guangzhou Asia-Pacific transshipment center, using cross-border trucks equipped with electronic locks (e-lock) and Global Positioning System (GPS).
