Cuba's energy network has malfunctioned, leading to millions without electrical utilities. The country faces challenges from aging infrastructure and natural disasters, resulting in a series of recent grid failures. The state utilities company, Cuba Electrical Utilities Alliance, has stated that workers are trying to restore the grid, but local officials warn residents that the difficult process of restoring power to aging power plants may take several days. Cuba's largest energy producer, the Antonio Guiteras Power Plant in Matanzas, reported a malfunction at night that caused the grid to collapse on Wednesday. In one week of October this year, most of Cuba experienced nearly complete power outages, marking the most severe energy disruption in decades.
