On December 4, Liang Nan, Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, met in Beijing with Nauru's Minister of Education, Climate Change, and Airlines, Astirio Apis. Both sides exchanged in-depth opinions on establishing civil aviation links between the two countries and strengthening civil aviation cooperation between China and Nauru. Liang Nan stated that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nauru in January of this year, a new historical chapter has opened in the bilateral relationship. The Civil Aviation Administration of China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Nauru and promote the swift signing of an intergovernmental air transportation agreement, establishing a legal foundation for business cooperation between the airlines of both sides, while also encouraging airlines to conduct technical exchanges on specific cooperation matters and actively research the South Pacific air transportation market. Nauru is an important partner in China's Belt and Road initiative concept, and China is willing to conduct more cooperation in the field of civil aviation with Nauru under the framework of the Belt and Road initiative concept to facilitate cultural and economic trade exchanges between the two countries. Apis expressed that Nauru is willing to strengthen communication and exchanges in the field of civil aviation with China and hopes that both sides can sign the air transportation agreement as soon as possible, laying a good foundation for future multi-field cooperation in civil aviation.
