Japan Display Inc. (JDI) intends to abandon the plan to start mass production of the next generation organic EL within the year, possibly due to delays in coordination with customers. JDI's performance has remained weak, positioning the independently developed next generation products as the core to improve profitability, and striving to begin mass production as soon as possible. The next generation organic EL 'eLEAP' is characterized by being brighter and having a longer lifespan than previous products, and is expected to be used in virtual reality (VR) related products and automotive devices. JDI originally planned to start mass production at the Mobara plant (Mobara City, Chiba Prefecture) within the year, but this may be delayed by several months.
