Director Li Jialu of the Distribution Development Department of the Ministry of Commerce stated at the routine press conference of the Ministry of Commerce on December 3 that from 2024 to 2026, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Finance will carry out national pilot projects for the modern commercial distribution system in three batches. 20 cities officially entered the pilot list for 2024. Apart from Chengdu, other cities include Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Dalian, Harbin, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Hefei, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Nam Cheong, Jinan, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi'an, and Yinchuan. The total GDP and total retail sales of social consumer goods of these 20 pilot cities each exceed one-fourth of the national total. Many cities are important distribution centers for goods nationally and regionally, as well as logistics hubs and innovative centers for the industry chain supply chain. They have achieved results in promoting the construction of urban and rural commercial distribution systems, developing agricultural product cold chain logistics, and promoting the transformation and upgrading of wholesale and retail trade.
