General Motors announced an expansion of the 14-year battery technology partnership with LG New Energy, including the development of square batteries. General Motors will continue to utilize the Ultium Cells factories located in Warren, Ohio and Spring Hill, Tennessee to produce pouch batteries to meet the increasing demand for its electric cars. On the same day, General Motors announced a non-binding agreement to sell its stake in the soon-to-be-completed Ultium Cells battery plant in Lansing, Michigan to its joint venture partner LG New Energy.
