"I believe this will accelerate discussions on how Canada and the usa can collaborate. This could certainly involve further development of pipelines connecting the two countries," said Adam Waterous, the head of the energy company Strathcona Resources based in Calgary, Alberta. He is also the founder and CEO of the private equity firm Waterous Energy Fund, which owns approximately 91% of Strathcona listed in Toronto. Waterous stated that Trump promised last week to impose a 25% tariff on all Canadian and Mexican products entering the usa, possibly to bring Canada to the negotiating table to some extent. He also mentioned that this may highlight the importance of Canadian oil to the usa.
