On the 15th local time, Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with visiting senior advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Larijani, in Beirut. Mikati stated during the meeting that all parties should support the Lebanese government's position in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, support Lebanon's national unity, rather than positions that may cause divisions among various groups within Lebanon. Mikati emphasized that the Lebanese government's priorities are to stop Israel's aggression against Lebanon, achieve a ceasefire, and fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Currently, contact continues among various parties. Larijani stated that Iran supports any decision made by the Lebanese government, including its stance on Security Council Resolution 1701. Resolution 1701 was adopted by the Security Council on August 11, 2006, aimed at ending the conflict between Lebanon and Israel that erupted in July of the same year, stipulating that there should be no armed presence between the Litani River and the "Blue Line", except for the Lebanese government army and UN peacekeeping forces.
