On November 12, local time, Principal Financial USA announced that the board of directors has appointed the current president and chief operating officer, Deanna Strable, as the company's next president and chief executive officer, effective from January 7, 2025. Deanna Strable will succeed Dan Houston in the role, who will continue to serve as the chairman of the board. Deanna Strable will also join the Principal Financial board of directors in January 2025. It is understood that she was promoted to group president and chief operating officer in August 2024. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2024, she served as the company's chief financial officer, and previously held the position of president of workplace benefits and insurance business at the company.
