The US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the landing and impact of Hurricane "Helene" occurred before the reference period of the household survey (unemployment rate) and the establishment survey (non-farm employment). Hurricane "Milton", on the other hand, fell within the reference period of the survey. The response rate for the household survey in October was within the normal range. The collection rate for the enterprise survey in October was well below the average level. Employment estimates in some industries are likely to have been affected by the hurricanes; however, it is not possible to quantify the impact of hurricanes on non-farm employment, average hourly wages, and other data. The national unemployment rate did not show a clear effect of the hurricanes. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics will release estimates of employment and unemployment rates for October by states on November 19, 2024, at 23:00 (Beijing time).
