On October 28-29, 2024, the 50th East Asia and Pacific Central Banks Governors' Meeting (EMEAP) Payment and Market Infrastructure Working Group (WGPMI) meeting was held in Peking. The People's Bank of China, as the rotating chair of EMEAP-WGPMI, hosted the meeting. Zhang Qingsong, member of the People's Bank of China Party Committee and Deputy Governor, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zhang Qingsong pointed out that the People's Bank of China continues to uphold the concept of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefit, and works together with all members to further play the role of EMEAP-WGPMI as a bridge and link. The meeting introduced the recent achievements of members in the field of payment and market infrastructure development, and exchanged views on topics such as cross-border payment interconnection, fraud prevention and monitoring, and securities settlement cycles.
