The 2024 ESG Global Leaders Conference was held in Shanghai from October 16th to 18th. Lai Xiaoming, Chairman of Shanghai Environment Energy Exchange, attended and spoke. Lai Xiaoming introduced that since the launch of the national carbon market, after two compliance periods, enterprises have relatively well complied with the mandatory requirements and rules of the carbon market trading, with a compliance rate of over 99%. He stated that the launch and operation of the carbon market has played a positive role and promoting effect in emissions reduction by key emitting enterprises. In the past three years, the carbon intensity of thermal power plants has decreased by 2.38, and the entire power industry has decreased by around 8.8%, showing a significant reduction. Therefore, it solidifies the emission responsibilities of companies and promotes an important market mechanism for companies to reduce emissions.
