Data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) of the USA shows that global semiconductor sales in August amounted to $53.12 billion, an increase of 20.6% year-on-year. The amount set a new historical record for August. Driven by the demand for generative AI (artificial intelligence), global semiconductor sales have exceeded the previous year for 10 consecutive months. By region, sales in the Americas reached $16.56 billion, a year-on-year increase of 43.9%, driving overall growth. Sales in Europe were $4.26 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 9.0%, while Japan reached $4 billion with a 2.0% year-on-year growth. In China, there was a 19.2% year-on-year growth, reaching $15.48 billion. Excluding Japan and China, the Asia-Pacific and other regions saw a 17.1% year-on-year growth to $12.82 billion.
