On October 11, the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Yangzhou publicly released the "Regulations on Preferential Treatment for the Elderly in Yangzhou" (referred to as the "Regulations" below), which is the country's first local regulation with a focus on providing preferential treatment for the elderly and will be implemented starting from January 1, 2025. The "Regulations" stipulate various preferential measures for the elderly, including specifically encouraging employers to provide convenience and support in terms of time, work arrangements, etc. for the children of the elderly or other individuals who have the obligation of supporting and caring for the elderly during their hospitalization due to illness. During the hospitalization due to illness, children are entitled to a cumulative total of not less than five days of nursing leave each year. During the nursing leave, their salary and benefits remain unchanged, and it does not affect promotions or advancements.
