Secretary of Commerce Wang Wentao held a conversation with US Secretary of Commerce Raymond. The two sides had candid, in-depth, and practical communication on economic and trade issues of their respective concerns on implementing the important agreement of the first meeting between China and the US in San Francisco. This call is an institutional communication arrangement between the commercial departments of the two countries. Wang Wentao said that the two heads of state held a historic meeting in San Francisco in November last year to point out the direction for the development of Sino-US economic and trade relations. The Ministry of Commerce of the two countries maintained close contacts at the ministerial, vice-ministerial, and departmental and administrative levels, and made positive progress in expanding cooperation, managing differences, and resolving specific concerns of enterprises. Sino-US economic and trade relations should become the ballast stone of bilateral relations. On the basis of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, China is ready to work with the US to implement the consensus reached during the meeting between the heads of state and push the Sino-US economic and trade relations back on the right track. Wang Wentao focused on expressing serious concerns about the US semiconductor policy towards China and restrictions on connected vehicles in China. Wang Wentao stressed that clarifying national security boundaries in the economic and trade fields is particularly necessary, which is conducive to maintaining the safety and stability of the global industrial chain supply chain and creating a favorable policy environment for industry cooperation between the two countries. The Chinese side urges the US side to pay attention to the specific concerns of Chinese enterprises, lift sanctions against Chinese enterprises as soon as possible, and improve the business environment for Chinese enterprises in the US.
