Industry data released on Sunday in South Korea shows that for most of 2024, over 60% of South Korea's auto exports were shipped to North America, prompting calls for companies to consider a more balanced global export strategy. Industry data shows that the five auto companies with production bases in South Korea, Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, GM Korea, KG Mobility, and Renault Samsung Motors, exported a total of 1,857,111 vehicles from January to August this year. Among them, 61.4% (1,140,073 units) were sold to North America, a 15.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the export volume to the USA was 0.976 million vehicles, accounting for about half of South Korea's total auto exports during the same period. Meanwhile, US exports increased by 18.7% year-on-year.
