Apple has now obtained a design patent that shows the company is expected to launch a MacBook Air laptop with a glass shell in the future. The patent demonstrates a product shell that provides I/O functionality, which means users can interact with the laptop using this 'shell', hinting at a glass keyboard for future MacBook Air (typing on a glass panel). According to reports, Apple also applied for a patent for a glass shell iMac in March this year, indicating the company's attempt to incorporate glass material into its product line. While the idea of a fully glass MacBook Air and iMac sounds extremely luxurious, it seems more suitable as a concept validation rather than an actual product on the market. The most obvious drawback of any glass technology product is its fragility. However, if Apple manages to address the strength of the glass, considering that the MacBook already uses passive cooling design, using this design can make the laptop more prominent in terms of water and dust resistance, effectively sealing/protecting the internal components of the laptop.
