Revised data released on Monday showed economic growth of 0.5% in the second quarter, lower than the previous expectation of 0.6%. However, this slowdown may be mainly attributed to faster growth recorded last year, and the Bank of England is unlikely to be overly concerned about a new recession occurring this year. He stated: 'Overall, these will not change our view that GDP growth in the second half of this year will be lower than the first half, but will avoid a severe recession or another recession.'
