China International Marine Containers subsidiary, CIMC Raffles, recently signed a 1+1 Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Production, Storage, and Offloading Unit (EPC) order with the global leading FLNG operator, golar lng. This marks the first FLNG ship by CIMC, signifying a significant breakthrough in the high-end ocean construction sector for CIMC. FLNG is a floating liquefied natural gas processing platform that can directly liquefy and store extracted natural gas in sea areas far from land, then transport it to various locations globally by unloading to LNG carriers. It is one of the most complex, high-cost, and high-value products in marine engineering equipment, often dubbed the 'new pearl on the crown' of the ship and ocean construction industry. The FLNG ship signed this time is approximately 390 meters in length, 70 meters in width, with an expected annual production capacity of 3.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas. It is scheduled for delivery in 2027, which will expand golar lng's fleet, enhancing its global energy market competitiveness.
