On September 27, Citi, as a joint bookrunner and joint lead manager, assisted the Chinese Ministry of Finance in successfully pricing a total of 2 billion euros in sovereign bonds. Among them, 1.25 billion euros for a 3-year period at an issue rate of 2.517%; 0.75 billion euros for a 7-year period at an issue rate of 2.738%. It is understood that this issuance by the Chinese Ministry of Finance is the largest euro sovereign bond issuance in the Asian region since 2022, following the issuance of US dollar and euro sovereign bonds in October and November 2021, making a comeback in the overseas currency sovereign bond capital markets after 3 years, with a strong momentum on the pricing day. The total subscription amount was 16.2 billion euros, 8.1 times the issue amount. The final pricing was MS+23 basis points for the 3-year period and MS+40 basis points for the 7-year period, respectively reduced by 22 and 25 basis points from the initial price guidance. This issuance successfully improved the Chinese euro sovereign bond yield curve, further optimized the structure of China's sovereign foreign debt, and provided pricing references and benchmarking for Chinese companies to issue euro bonds for financing purposes.
