In September this year, Audi publicly disclosed specific information about its new cooperation project with SAIC for the first time. Project CEO Song Feiming stated that Audi and SAIC's cooperation is a new project independent of the joint venture between SAIC and Audi. It is dedicated to the research and development of new pure electric vehicles, with development work being jointly carried out by Audi, SAIC, and SAIC Volkswagen teams. Currently, Audi has delegated over 50 technical experts from its headquarters in Germany to participate in the R&D work in Shanghai. The new car will be unveiled in November this year and officially launched in the market next year. It is reported that the first car of the Audi SAIC project is internally codenamed "purple427," a B-class electric vehicle. This new car is led by a Chinese team with a planned development cycle of less than 18 months, more than halving the time compared to the Audi e-tron series. Supply chain sources mentioned that the Audi SAIC project fully utilizes the SAIC supply chain, with almost all work being coordinated with the SAIC team and Audi only intervening in specific configurations.
