Recently, social media platform Facebook's parent company Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg and lm ericsson telephone President and CEO Börje Ekholm, along with nearly 50 company executives, researchers, and industry institutions, jointly wrote to the European Union stating: "Due to inconsistent regulatory decisions, Europe faces further risks of falling behind in the era of artificial intelligence." The signatories expressed that in recent years, the EU's regulatory decisions have become "fragmented" and "difficult to predict," and stated that due to the intervention of the European Data Protection Authorities (DPAs), there is significant uncertainty about which data can be used for AI model training. "This means that the next generation of open-source artificial intelligence models and products and services built on them will not understand or reflect European knowledge, culture, or language," they noted.
