Toyota Motor announced on September 20th that it is conducting a safety recall on some Corolla Cross hybrid vehicles produced between June 2022 and September 2024. The recall involves approximately 42,000 vehicles in the USA (about 51,000 in North America). The announcement states that in certain situations, when braking while turning, the driver may temporarily feel the brake pedal is too firm, causing the stopping distance to exceed expectations. This increases the risk of a collision. Toyota dealers will update the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software programming free of charge for all affected vehicles, and owners of the relevant vehicles will receive notifications by the end of November 2024.
