According to reports, the startup company Cylib is building a large battery recycling plant in Germany to reduce the waste of discarded electric vehicle batteries. The startup has received support from luxury sports car company Porsche and electronics manufacturer Bosch. Starting from Monday, the company has begun construction on its new factory in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The factory, with an investment of over 0.18 billion euros (0.2 billion dollars), is expected to cover an area of 236,000 square feet and produce batteries for recycling and reuse in the European electric vehicle industry. Cylib says that its factory will become the largest end-to-end lithium-ion battery recycling plant in Europe. The company plans to recycle approximately 0.03 million tons of discarded lithium batteries annually at the factory, surpassing the scale of the current largest similar plant, Hydrovolt. Hydrovolt is a joint venture between Swedish electric vehicle battery manufacturer Northvolt and Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company Hydro. (Global Market Report)
