41 A-share listed banks saw a narrowing of net interest margin in the first half of the year.

Breakings ·  Sep 6 16:20

The half-year reports of 42 listed banks in the A-share market in 2024 have all been released. Except for Lanzhou Bank, the net interest margin of the other 41 banks collectively declined. The number of banks with an interest margin level of 2% or above decreased from 12 in the same period last year to 3, namely Jiangsu Changshu Rural Commercial Bank, Bank of Changsha, and CM Bank. Mingming, chief economist at CITIC Securities, told reporters that the net interest margin of many banks continues to decline, and operational pressure is increasing, mainly due to factors such as the continuous decline of the Loan Prime Rate and actual loan interest rates, the concentrated repricing at the beginning of the year, and banks increasing efforts to reduce fees and benefit the real economy.
