According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, Brazil's "Brazil Energy" website reported on August 29th that with the significant increase in sales volume of electric cars, government departments such as the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) and relevant industry associations in Brazil are actively promoting the mandatory certification of car charging stations. Recently, the well-known Brazilian machinery and automation company WEG became the first enterprise to obtain voluntary certification of the ABNT NBR IEC 61851-1:2021 electric car charging station standard (involving electric vehicle conductive charging systems) from the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology, with a validity period of six years. In addition, WEG has also obtained certification for compatibility with multiple countries and multiple brands of vehicles, including the EU CE, UK's UKCA, Renault and Nissan's EV Ready 2.0, international standard IEC 61851-1, Mexico's ULM-NOM, Chile's SEC, Uruguay's UNIT, and Colombia's RETIE. The Brazilian federal government expects that by 2030, the number of pure electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in Brazil will grow from the current 0.12 million to over 1 million.
