Yao Lin, Chairman of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association and Chairman of China Minmetals Corporation, stated that by 2025, key regional steel companies will have basically completed the transformation to ultra-low emissions. The country aims to have over 80% of the production capacity transformed. The ultimate goal of energy efficiency work is for the proportion of iron and steel industry's ironmaking and steelmaking process capacity above the energy efficiency benchmark (advanced) level to reach 30% by 2025. Capacity below the energy efficiency benchmark level will be essentially eliminated, significant energy saving and carbon reduction effects will be seen in the industry, and the capability for green and low-carbon development will be greatly enhanced.
