On July 19, 2024, China Unicom's partner conference opened. At the conference, Chen Zhongyue, the chairman of China Unicom, said in a keynote speech that the Internet has gone through the PC Internet and mobile Internet, and is accelerating towards the next generation of the Internet. In the smart new era, the next generation of the Internet is the computing power and intelligence internet. China Unicom will strengthen the construction of intelligent computing infrastructure, build a "new eight vertical and eight horizontal" national backbone network, strengthen global computing and intelligent scheduling, and strive to create a computing power and intelligence internet with high throughput, high performance, and high intelligence. Chen Zhongyue said that as the "main artery" connecting intelligent computing power and the "neuron" realizing AI popularization, the network still has many technical difficulties that need to be tackled jointly. China Unicom will work together with partners, on the one hand, to support AI development with the network, collaborate with industry partners, continue to tackle lossless network technology within and between algorithms, promote interconnection of devices from different manufacturers, and strive to take a path of "network empowerment of computing" for the development of AI. On the other hand, it will empower network operation with AI, continuously improve the level of network intelligence, and enhance efficiency and security.
