Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) passed two capital increase proposals at the Investment Commission of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs on June 27, increasing capital by $5.26 billion to its Japanese Kumamoto plant and $5 billion to the second phase of the Arizona plant. It is reported that in response to the growth of local customer demand and the strengthening of strategic relationships with customers, TSMC plans to increase capital by $5.26 billion to its Japanese Kumamoto wafer manufacturing subsidiary to build a new Kumamoto second factory, which is expected to produce 6/7-nanometer, 12/16-nanometer, and 40-nanometer process technology products.
